During the Poco F1 launch, Xiaomi announced that the device will get Android 9 Pie update by Q4, 2018. Now it seems that Xiaomi is working on its promise, as it has started rolling out the Android 9 Pie-based MIUI Global Beta 10.8.30 to closed MIUI Beta testers.
At present, Xiaomi’s Poco F1 runs Android 8.1 Oreo based MIUI with a skin on top. Xiaomi calls it MIUI For Poco. According to FoneArena, Android 9.0 Pie based MIUI Global Beta ROM may rollout to all users starting this Friday. As of now the latest build is limited to select Beta testers only. The MIUI Global Beta 10.8.30 based on Android 9 Pie can be installed using a custom recovery and not via Updater method as this is a closed beta.
Xiaomi launched the Poco F1 to counter OnePlus’ growing popularity in mid-flagship segment. The Poco F1 comes with premium hardware at cheaper price tag. Xiaomi says that the handset has managed a lot of consumer interest, and company has plans to offer next version of Android (probably the Android Q) as well.
