Apple iPad Pro can charge your iPhone with the help of its USB Type-C port

Apple just announced a number of refreshed products at its October 30 hardware launch event. The highlight of the event was the much-anticipated iPad Pro 2018 lineup along with the long-awaited refresh for the MacBook Air and Mac Mini. Talking about the iPad Pro 2018 lineup, the company has increased the display size while removing the home button and making the bezels narrower. Apple has added Face ID to compensate for the removal of Touch ID while updating the feature to ensure that users can unlock the device from any orientation without worrying about holding the new iPad Pro “the correct way”.

The second major change that Apple opted for in the iPad Pro 2018 is the switch to USB Type-C port in place of the Lightning port. This move was anticipated considering the company already made the switch to Type-C in its MacBook Pro lineup. Given that Apple has finally added the standard Type-C port, the company also clarified that users can use the new iPad Pro to charge their iPhone devices on the go as reported by The Verge. It is likely that the charging functionality will not be limited to iPhones, and users will likely be able to charge any USB-powered device using the port.

Though, Apple has not revealed the amount of power that the new iPad will be able to push through the port. It is unlikely that users will be able to charge another iPad or any of the Mac devices. However, before you get all excited about the feature, you will need a USB Type-C to Lightning cable that is priced at $19.99 (Rs 1,500 approximately). The thing here is that this cable has to be purchased separately.

In addition to the usual bump in terms of the specifications of the device with A12X Bionic SoC with an octa-core CPU, a seven-core CPU, and up to 1TB internal storage, Apple also launched the new upgraded version of its Apple Pencil for users who use the accessory.
