MacBook Air, Mac mini and iPad Pro launched: India price, availability and key features

At its first major event outside California, Apple revitalized both Macs and iPad Pro lineup as it aims to appeal to professional users. The event saw the launch of the new MacBook Air, Mac mini and iPad Pro, and the underlining message was how all the hardware made by Apple are now inspired or designed around iPhone or iPhone features. All the three devices are now available for pre-order in the US, and will start shipping from November 7. However, if you want to buy them in India then here is look at when and how much it will cost.

Apple MacBook Air: India Price, Features and Availability

Apple MacBook Air is getting first major refresh in more than three years. The MacBook Air had gained a cult following for being the perfect laptop since it was first pulled out of an envelope by then CEO Steve Jobs. The 2018 MacBook Air borrows a lot of design elements from the MacBook Pro, and it will start at Rs 114,900 in India. It will be available for order through Apple authorized resellers starting November 7.

The new MacBook Air features a 13.3-inch Liquid Retina display with a resolution of 2560×1600 pixels, and is powered by 8th generation Intel Core i5 processor clocked at 1.5GHz. It comes with 8GB of RAM and option to choose between 128GB or 256GB SSD storage. There is also an option to get the device configured with up to 1.5TB SSD storage.

There is a new Butterfly keyboard with integrated Touch ID sensor and larger force touch trackpad. Apple has equipped the MacBook Air with two Thunderbolt 3 ports, a FaceTime HD camera, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and is rated to last up to 12 hours of wireless web browsing.

Apple Mac mini: India Price, Features and Availability

It took Apple just 1,475 days but the company has finally announced a refreshed version of Mac mini. The Mac mini is widely considered as the most accessible Mac for anyone, and is often the first device consumers buy to experience Mac for the first time. The new Mac mini is priced at Rs 75,900, and Rs 105,900 depending on configuration and will also be available starting November 7.

The new Mac mini launched last evening now comes with the option for either quad-core or hexa-core 8th generation Intel Core i3 or Core i5 CPU. There is 8GB of RAM, and option for 128GB or 256GB SSD storage. It supports up to three 60Hz display with two displays via Thunderbolt 3 port and one display via HDMI 2.0 port. In terms of ports, it has four Thunderbolt 3 ports, one HDMI 2.0 port, two USB 3.0 port, one Ethernet jack and one 3.5mm headphone jack.

Apple iPad Pro: India Price, Features and Availability

While MacBook Air refresh was definitely the biggest announcement, the new iPad Pro shows Apple’s vision for wireless computing. The new iPad Pro comes in two sizes – 11-inch and 12.9-inch – and features an edge-to-edge display similar to that of newer iPhone. In terms of pricing, the new 11-inch iPad Pro starts at Rs 71,900 for the Wi-Fi only model, and Rs 85,900 for the Wi-Fi+Cellular model.

The 12.9-inch iPad Pro starts at Rs 89,900 for the Wi-Fi only model, while the Wi-Fi+Cellular model will set you back by Rs 103,900. Alongside the new iPad Pro, Apple also launched the second generation Apple Pencil with magnetic connection for Rs 10,900. The new Space Grey Smart Keyboard Folio is priced at Rs 15,900 for the 11-inch model, and Rs 17,900 for the 12.9-inch model.

The new iPad Pro features an all glass design with thin bezels and trades Touch ID for Face ID, like iPhone X and iPhone XS that came before it. Powering the new iPad Pro is an Apple A12X Bionic chip, an octa-core CPU with 10 billion transistors and 7-core graphics processor. It starts at 64GB and can be configured with up to 1TB of storage.

There is a 12-megapixel rear camera with f/1.8 aperture and a 7-megapixel selfie camera. The new iPad Pro also comes with improved speakers and supports eSIM for wireless connectivity. One of the big new changes apart from Face ID and thin bezel design is the switch to USB Type-C port for charging. The iPad Pro can also charge iPhone with reverse charging feature.
