BSNL just announced a Diwali exclusive deal for its customers which includes two new prepaid plans that are priced at Rs 1,699 and 2,099. These two new prepaid plans are both yearly plans and both the plans are available on a pan-India basis. These yearly plans give users the freedom of not having to recharge again for a long time and are cost effective as well. But BSNL is not the only company that is offering yearly plans, and its biggest competitor Reliance Jio has also launched a long-term plan for Diwali. So here we will compare the new BSNL plans to its Reliance Jio counterpart.
To begin with let’s just state what the two new BSNL plans entail. And the first one is the Rs 1,699 plan that offers users unlimited voice calls on local as well as STD networks all over India, 100 SMS each day for 365 days and comes with Personalized Ring Back Tone (PRBT). The Rs 1,699 plan also comes with unlimited data plan with an FUP of 2GB daily data, after which speeds will be capped at 80Kbps.
The Rs 2,099 plan offers users unlimited voice calls on local as well as STD networks all over India, 100 SMS each day for 365 days and comes with Personalized Ring Back Tone (PRBT) as well. It also comes with unlimited data with an FUP of 4GB per day, beyond which the speeds will be again capped at 80Kbps.
The new long-validity plan from Jio is priced at Rs 1,699. As a part of the plan, users get unlimited local and national calling without any FUP, unlimited roaming and unlimited local and national SMS (100 per day capping). Being a long validity plan, it is valid for 365 days from the day of recharge. As for data benefits, users will get a total of 547.5GB data through the validity, and daily capping of 1.5GB at 4G speeds. Once the set data limit is hit, users will still be able to get unlimited downloads, but at a reduced speed of 64Kbps. The plan also includes complimentary access to Jio app suite.
If the user recharges with Rs 1,699 plan between October 18 and November 30, the customer will be eligible to get 100 percent cashback. The cashback will be given in the form of coupons – three coupons priced at Rs 500 each, and one coupon priced at Rs 200. One can use these coupons at Reliance Digital or Reliance Digital Xpress Mini stores on a minimum purchase of Rs 5,000.
Now, comparing the number of the plans we see that even though both the BSNL Rs 1,699 and Jio Rs 1,699 plans have the same price and validity, are some other key differences. The Reliance Jio plans offers a total of 547.5GB data which is capped at 1.5GB each day, while the BSNL plan offers a total of 730GB 4G data at 2GB per day. The other features of calling, SMS are same for both but miscellaneous offer are different.
