Xiaomi is today launching a new series of smartphones in India, which it is touting as ‘Desh ke Naye Smartphones’. As we have seen in the teasers so far, the devices launching today are the Redmi 6, Redmi 6A, and the Redmi 6 Pro. The smartphones were initially launched in China earlier this year, and will be succeeding the popular Redmi 5 series in India.
The Redmi 5 series has broken quite a few records since launch last year. Since then however competition has increased, and it will be interesting to see how Xiaomi’s new devices contend with it. One thing is for sure, with its combination of features and price, the Redmi 6, Redmi 6A, and Redmi 6 Pro will continue to be excellent value-for-money propositions.
If the China prices are anything to go by, the Redmi 6 will be priced around the Rs 6,000 mark, while the Redmi 6A will be priced around the Rs 7,000-8,000 mark. The Redmi 6 Pro will be most expensive of the three with a price tag around Rs 10,000. A recent teaser has confirmed that two of these three devices will be exclusively available via Amazon India. The third device will be available on Flipkart.
Xiaomi’s Redmi 6 launch event kicks off at 12:00PM, and we are on ground to bring you all the latest updates. Watch this space for real-time updates.
