Image bench-marking company and software maker DoXMark has just issued a statement on its official Twitter handle in response to a recently leaked list. The company has issued a clarification in the statement adding that the leaked list of upcoming smartphones was not accurate and instead, it was fake. For the uninitiated, a list showcasing DxOMark scores for a number of unreleased smartphones including the OnePlus 6T, iPhone XR, Google Pixel 3, Huawei Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, and more.
For the people who don’t know, DxOMark tests the latest camera smartphones in the market with the help of a battery of tests and then gives them a score depending on their performance. The score can then act as a cumulative rating to compare the device against other devices with a DxOMark score. For context, reports on the internet claimed that the list for DxOMark scores of upcoming smartphones had leaked out in advance. The list claimed that Huawei Mate 20 Pro featured the best smartphone camera in the market and scored 116 according to the DxOMark tests. This meant that Huawei had made improvements in the camera that it was shipping the Mateo 20 Pro with in comparison to the camera in the previously launched P20 Pro that scored 109 in DoXMark tests.

The statement on Twitter added that the company was going to test the upcoming smartphones “as soon as possible” to update its rank list. This indicated that the company had not tested the upcoming devices as indicated in the list.

Though it is possible for the company to have early access to the devices before the launch so that it can ensure that they are done with the tests at the launch of the device. It is also likely that the companies have not sent the devices to DxOMark this advance in time.
For example, the leak meant that Huawei, OnePlus, and Google had sent the device around about the second or third week of September for the testing to complete.
