Taiwanese hacker by the name of Chang Chi-yuan has gone back on his work after he announced that he will take down the Facebook page of Mark Zuckerberg. In his initial announcement, he also claimed to live broadcast his feat on his Facebook page. He canceled the attempt to take down the page adding that he received global attention for his announcement. For context, Chi-yuan is a “self-professed bug bounty-hunter”. For the people who don’t know, bug-bounty hunters are developers or researchers who take a look at software or internet websites in search for security flaws along with a proof of concept attack along with a possible fix.
According to a report by Bloomberg, the hacker issued a statement stating, “I am canceling my live feed, I have reported the bug to Facebook and I will show proof when I get bounty from Facebook.” The report added that it is likely that he wanted to “avoid unnecessary trouble” by going ahead with the page deletion attempt. He added, “There will still be a lot of people questioning my ability even after I find many bugs and earn a copious amount of bounty, and I shouldn’t try to prove myself by toying with Zuck’s account.”

The cancellation is not really surprising since Chang was recently sued by a local bus operator when he got in the systems and booked a ticket worth 1 NT dollar which amounts to Rs 2.38. The report added that it is unusual for the bug bounty hunters, also known as white-hat hackers to do something like this and broadcast it in the real time.
Facebook did not issue a response to the claims as this came right after the company reported an attack on about 50 million accounts.
