While we’ve already been expecting to see the LG V40 ThinQ at LG‘s upcoming launch event on October 3, a new report suggests that we could also see the LG Watch W7 launched at the event. While the device was first heard of in April this year, it could finally see the light of day many months after the first bits of information on the new smartwatch were seen.
The report comes via a tweet by popular smartphone leaker Evan Blass (@evleaks), which suggests that the new smartwatch could be launched at the same event. The smartwatch will run Wear OS, and could also likely be powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 SoC, which was announced last month.
The Wear OS platform from Google has been adopted by many manufacturers thanks to its open nature and tendency to play well with Android smartphones, but it’s still known for its flaws. The Apple Watch range has turned out to be much more popular in comparison, as have fitness trackers and wearables from companies such as Xiaomi, Huawei and Fitbit.

The LG Watch W7 is likely to come with a 1.2-inch circular (360×360-pixel) P-OLED screen, and could also come with a heart-rate sensor and GPS built in. Although the old rumors pointed at different hardware, it’s likely that LG has improved the product and made it more current, given the improvements now available in the form of the newer Qualcomm chipset for wearables and more. We’ll know for sure when the launch event takes place on October 3, where we’ll also see the latest flagship device from LG – the V40 ThinQ – launched.
