Lenovo to launch a smartphone with Huawei Mate 20 Pro-like quad-camera setup

Lately, Lenovo seems to be greatly focused on getting back into the smartphone space. The company is rumored to launch a bezel-less smartphone with a mechanical slider, and now it is being rumored to launch a device with a quad-camera setup.

Chang Cheng, Lenovo’s Vice President, has shared a teaser for the upcoming smartphone on Weibo (spotted by @UniverseIce). The teaser poster depicts a square-shaped camera module with four lenses on each corner, and a LED flash in the middle. Needless to say, the camera module looks a lot like what will be introduced on the Huawei Mate 20 Pro later this month.

The poster doesn’t really reveal much else except that the smartphone with this camera module will launch sometime this month. It also mentions that the camera setup will be backed by Artificial Intelligence.

There is currently no word on what smartphone will boast this quad-camera setup, or when it is being launched. In the meanwhile, Lenovo is rumored to be launching a new smartphone in China today, dubbed the Z5 Pro. The talking point of the device will be its Oppo Find X-like truly bezel-less design. While Lenovo’s device too is expected to feature a slider, it will be manual.

The device is also rumored to feature a 6.5-inch FHD+ (2280×1440 pixels) display with a tall aspect ratio, and 95 percent screen-to-body ratio. Under the hood will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC paired with 6GB/8GB RAM options, and up to 256GB internal storage. Other rumored features include a dual-camera setup (20-megapixel+16-megapixel), and a 4,000mAh battery.
