Idea Cellular launches new Rs 149 prepaid plan, offers 33GB data for 28 days

Firing yet another salvo in the ongoing tariff war, Idea Cellular (now a part of Vodafone Idea Limited) has introduced a new plan for its prepaid consumers. Priced at Rs 149, the plan has a validity of 28 days and offers 33GB of data. Going head to head against similarly-priced plans from Airtel and Reliance Jio, the plan will be available in circles like Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, Kerala, and Karnataka.

Other than the data benefit, Idea Cellular’s new plan comes with unlimited voice calls as well. However, these are capped to 250 minutes per day and 1000 minutes a week. Also, calls are only allowed to 100 unique numbers. Lastly, subscribers get 100 free text messages per day.

Talking about the competition, Reliance Jio’s Rs 149 plan also comes with a validity of 28 days, but with 1.5GB of data per day, the total allowance goes to 42GB. Voice calls are also unlimited, without any restrictions based on unique phone numbers, so Jio’s offering is definitely better.

Then there’s Airtel plan, which offers 28GB total data (1GB per day) for a period of 28 days. That said, voice calls are truly unlimited.

Idea Cellular recently introduced six new ‘Active Recharge’ plans, ranging from Rs 25 to Rs 245. These are currently available for subscribers in UP (West), Punjab, and Tamil Nadu circles.
