Xiaomi launched its flagship smartphone in the form of Mi 8 and Mi 8 Explorer Edition in May early this year. While the Mi 8 brings modern design and flagship specifications, the upcoming Mi Mix 3 is expected to borrow design elements from Oppo Find X and Vivo NEX smartphones.
Later this year, Xiaomi is expected to launch two new smartphones called the Mi Mix 3 and Mi LEX. While we have seen leaks that reveal features of the Mi Mix 3, the technical specifications of Mi LEX remains under wraps. The Chinese smartphone maker has already confirmed that the Mi Mix 3 will feature a slide-out camera design similar to Oppo Find X. Now, a new leak originating from Weibo, China’s micro-blogging platform, sheds light on other key features.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 3, Mi LEX: Dedicated Xiao AI button
The leaked images posted on Weibo confirm that the Mi Mix 3 and the Mi LEX smartphones will feature a dedicated button on the left to access Xiao AI, Xiaomi’s own digital assistant. The button will make it easier to trigger the digital assistant and users can long press the button and hold it until the end of the command. Xiaomi also plans to let users further customize this button to access other functions by double pressing it.
Samsung’s flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S8 series, the Galaxy Note 8, the Galaxy S9 series and the Galaxy Note 9, feature a dedicated button to activate Bixby AI assistant. LG is also planning to add a dedicated button for Google Assistant with the launch of V40 ThinQ next month. The leaks so far indicate that the Mi Mix 3 and the Mi LEX will be a big upgrade over its predecessor.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 3: Expected Price and Specifications
The Mi Mix 3 is expected to feature a 6.4-inch Quad HD+ AMOLED display and will ditch the notch seen on Mi 8 and front camera placed on the chin in the previous Mi Mix smartphones. It will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and up to 128GB internal storage.
It is expected to feature dual 12-megapixel rear camera setup aided by AI and a 20-megapixel selfie shooter at the front. The selfie camera will be coupled with additional depth sensors for the Face ID implementation. The Mi Mix is also tipped to pack a huge 4,000mAh battery and support Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4.0.
