Samsung gives away free Galaxy S9 devices in a town called Apple

South Korean smartphone and electronics giant Samsung has just revealed its new marketing campaign. As part of the campaign, the company went to a small village in the Netherlands to give away 50 Samsung Galaxy S9 devices. You may ask about what is so important about this village and you may be right in ordinary circumstances. But considering that this is a marketing campaign by the largest smartphone maker in the world, this campaign, and the village is not ordinary. The reason the company went to this village is for its name ‘Appel’ which means ‘Apple‘ in the Dutch language.

So the company went to a village by the name ‘Apple’ to give away free devices. According to a report by PhoneArena, the company gave away 50 devices to 50 of the total 312 inhabitants of Appel. The report pointed out that the company worked with an 18-year old Apple fan from the village. As noted by the report, Gerben van Walt Meijer, the Marketing Manager for Samsung Mobiles in the Netherlands issued a statement adding, “With this marketing campaign we do exactly the same. We are off the beaten track to get our message across.”

He went on to add stating, “Our goal is to introduce as many people as possible to the possibilities of the Samsung Galaxy S9.” If you have been following the marketing campaigns by Samsung then you would know that this is not the first time where the company has aimed at its primary competition, Apple.

As noted by the report, this advertisement after the company rolled its “Ingenious” series from what appeared to the interior of a Genius Bar in an Apple store and the infamous advertisement featuring a family with “notch” haircuts.

The company also posted a video documenting the reaction of Appel inhabitants receiving and checking out their new Galaxy S9 devices.
