As Google’s Pixel line-up has shown, a smartphone doesn’t need to have multiple camera modules to capture great photos. However, that hasn’t stopped manufacturers from cramming ‘N’ number of cameras in their mobile devices. In fact, dual rear camera systems in smartphones today are the norm, rather than being the exception.
Quite a few of Samsung’s smartphones come with dual cameras at the back (including the recently-launched Galaxy Note 9), and some even have two shooters at the front. It seems that the chaebol wants to take things further, as a new rumor has claimed that Samsung may launch a smartphone with as many as four cameras this year.
The rumour came in the form of a tweet, posted by leakster Ice universe.

There’s no information about whether this supposed quad-camera smartphone will be launched as part of Samsung’s existing smartphone line-ups, or debut under a new series altogether. If Samsung is indeed planning such a device, there are a few ways those four cameras could be arranged.

The most-obvious could be two cameras each at the front and the back, an arrangement that even some budget smartphones have these days. The alternative could be a single selfie snapper and a tri-camera system at the back, such as the one on Huawei’s P20 Pro.
Samsung is likely gearing up to launch a new smartphone – Galaxy A7 (2018). The smartphone was recently certified in a listed spotted by 91Mobiles. The listing also reveals connectivity options of the smartphone – GSM, WCDMA, LTE, Bluetooth ANT+, GPS and NFC. However, the it doesn’t mention any other details like specifications and features.
