Huawei Mate 20 with triple-rear cameras spotted in wild at IFA 2018 show floor

Huawei made a number of announcements at IFA 2018. The company’s sub-brand, Honor, announced the Magic 2 smartphone with Oppo Find X-like sliding camera module. Huawei, on the other hand, announced the world’s first 7nm Kirin 980 AI mobile chipset, Amazon Alexa-powered AI Cube smart speaker that is also a 4G router. The company also announced that the Mate 20 will be the first Kirin 980 powered smartphone, and it will be introduced in London on October 16.

Now, ahead of the official launch, the Mate 20 with triple rear cameras was spotted in wild at the IFA show floor, courtesy of Spanish publication Tecnofilo. The person using the smartphone had a case put on it, so it doesn’t offer a clear look, but it does show off the triple rear cameras at the back placed in L-shape.

In fact, the overall arrangement is in a square shape, with the three camera modules in L-shape, and along with an LED flash module. The P20 Pro was the company’s first smartphone with triple rear camera setup, but there is no word on whether Huawei is using the same configuration, or it comes with new sensors.

The photos also show off the bottom of the smartphone with a USB Type-C module for charging and data transfer. And if you thought that Huawei is doing away with the 3.5mm audio socket, as it did with the P20 Pro, you would be glad that the audio socket still exists, as resides on the top.

Also, there is no fingerprint scanner visible at the mean, meaning that Huawei may employ an in-display scanner, just as the one spotted on the Mate RS Porsche Design.

Details about the Mate 20 have been leaked, courtesy of Twitter user bang_gogo_. The smartphone will likely come with a 6.3-inch display and a waterdrop notch, triple rear cameras, a massive 4,200mAh battery, glass back design with wireless charging, and stereo speakers. The Mate 20 is expected to run Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box, with EMUI 9 skin on top.
