Apple will be repairing your iPhone 8 for free if you are also facing the logic board problem. The company has launched a free repair program for all Apple iPhone 8 device owners who purchased their device between September 2017 and March 2018 in various countries including India. These iPhone 8 models have a manufacturing defect in the “logic board” which causes unexpected restarts, frozen screen and issues with the device turning on.
According to Apple, affected units of the iPhone 8 were sold between September 2017 and March 2018 in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Macau, New Zealand, and the U.S.
“Apple has determined that a very small percentage of iPhone 8 devices contain logic boards with a manufacturing defect. Affected devices may experience unexpected restarts, a frozen screen, or won’t turn on. Apple will repair eligible devices, free of charge,” noted Apple Support page.
To check whether or not you are eligible for the “iPhone 8 Logic Board Replacement Program”, you need to visit Apple’s support website and put in your iPhone 8 serial number to check if your device qualifies free repair.

But if your iPhone 8 has any kind of damage, then, in that case, Apple says that the issue will need to be resolved prior to ‘iPhone 8 Logic Board Replacement Program’ repair. The program covers affected iPhone 8 devices for 3 years after the first retail sale of the unit, which means iPhone 8 were sold between September 2017 and March 2018 can go for this program till March 2021. Apple also notes that it may restrict or limit repair to the original country or region of purchase.
