Vodafone Idea reveals new look with new website, after completion of merger

Yesterday, Idea Cellular and Vodafone India finally announced the merger of both telcos, which makes it India’s largest telecom operator. The merger has been approved by the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), and the company has a total of 408 million active user base in India. The new entity will be called Vodafone Idea Limited, although both brands will be retained and will continue to co-exist.

Aditya Birla Group made the formal announcement on Twitter, “It is official!
Merger of @Idea & @VodafoneIN is now complete. Vodafone Idea Limited now No.1 telecom service provider in India & No.2 globally. We’re thrilled and excited about our new 408 million strong family and welcome all the new members!”

Soon after the announcement, Vodafone and Idea Cellular made it official on Twitter. Idea Cellular tweeted to Vodafone saying, “Hey, @VodafoneIN you know they’re all talking about us.” Vodafone was quick enough to respond saying “Yeah @Idea. It’s time we made it official.” In the Tweet, Vodafone also revealed the new website – vodafoneidea.com.

The site has already gone live and has a few sections where you can find the media releases, message from the Chariman, CEO and information for investors. Through, for products and services, there is a section that points users to individual sites of Vodafone and Idea Cellular.

Soon after Vodafone and Idea tweeted out, Reliance Jio didn’t wanted to be left out of the party. The company replied with a humorous tweet saying “Bringing people together since 2016. @VodafoneIN @Idea #WithLoveFromJio.”

In the press release, Idea Cellular mentioned that both companies now have a wide broadband network (3G + 4G) with more than 340,000 sites that cover 840 million Indians. The merger also gives a large spectrum portfolio of 1850MHz to offer good experience across 2G, 3G and 4G platforms. The company also has the largest voice network with 200,000 unique GSM sites covering 92 percent population, or 1.2 billion Indians. Lastly, the companies together have 15,000 stores to service customers, and a distribution network of 1.7 million retailers.
