With the introduction of the Vivo Nex this year, we’re waiting to see if other manufacturers will be taking up the sliding camera idea. And we finally thought the fad is catching up soon with the launch of the Oppo Find X pretty soon after the Vivo Nex concept was introduced. But then there was a break for a few months and we thought that 2019 might be the year when pop-out cameras would become a thing.
But then came the Honor Magic 2 which was introduced yesterday and featured a very similar design to the Oppo Find X where the whole top camera segment slides out. And then later yesterday, the Xiaomi president felt that they have waited long enough and posted a render of the Mi Mix 3 on the Chinese social media website Weibo.
And the reason for posting the render becomes clear as soon as we got out first look at it. The render shows that the Mi Mix 3 will feature a similar camera sliding feature like the Oppo Find X. And clearly Xiaomi president didn’t want Honor stealing Xiaomi’s thunder with their unveiling of the Magic 2. This solution seems to finally solve the puzzle of removing the bezel that housed the camera, something that Xiaomi has been trying since the launch of the first Mi Mix phone.

There are no other details in the post except the image and that Xiaomi president Bin Lin expects to launch the phone sometime in October and bring it to the market in the same month. However, from the image above, we can already see that the Mi MIX 3 will be a step above in terms of going the bezel-less way.
