Internet connectivity plays an important part in our lives. Its usage has gone far beyond just giving us information over the web to keeping us in touch with friends, order food, or hail a cab just from the comforts of our homes. Now a recent survey conducted by Kaspersky Lab tells us just how important internet connectivity has become to most people.
According to the study, internet connectivity has more or less become an essential to our daily lives, so much so that about 22 percent in the survey accounted it to be as important as getting access to food, water and shelter. Not just that, the need for staying connected also extends to our devices as well. The study concludes that about 23 percent of people would rather choose being caught naked in public other than have their devices on them.
Of course, our reliability on smartphones and other connected devices has also risen a lot in the past, making them one of the most important possessions to most people. Nearly 90 percent respondents in the survey said that they would feel more stressed if their device was lost or stolen, compared to missing a train/airplane, being in a minor car accident or even getting sick. The study clearly shows that people will risk getting embarrassed or even physically harmed over having no internet connectivity.
Understanding its importance, Kaspersky believes that it is also important to find a balance between connectivity and security and it claims to bring that with the help of Kaspersky Security Cloud, and the range of features it has to offer across Windows, Android and iOS. The new software claims to offer peace of mind to users when it comes to their devices, while also ensuring safe and secure connectivity.
One of the key features of Kaspersky Security Cloud is that it can monitor, predict and track errors to a computer hard drive, in order to let users known in advance. In the case of an Android device getting stolen, its anti-theft features also help locate and track the device, while also taking a mugshot of the person. Moreover, it also helps protect user data when connecting the device to an unknown Wi-Fi network. There are plenty of other features included as well.

Dmitry Aleshin, VP for Product Marketing, Kaspersky Lab stated in a press release, “Connectivity has quickly become a staple of modern life and for many, an absolute necessity. Our desire to be online at all times, and the things we are prepared to do to maintain that digital connection, highlights how important connected devices are to us. However, with connectivity extending into all aspects of our lives, security can’t be overlooked, and should be there, whatever you are doing and wherever you are. Users need to ensure that, no matter the situation, their connection remains secure.”
