IFA 2018: ZTE Axon 9 Pro official with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, stock Android

At the ongoing IFA 2018 consumer electronics show in Berlin, ZTE has just unveiled its newest flagship smartphone – the Axon 9 Pro. The smartphone succeeds the Axon 7, which the Chinese company launched in 2016.

ZTE Axon 9 Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, paired with 6GB of RAM. There’s 128GB of internal storage as well, with support for microSD cards of up to 512GB. With the Axon 9 Pro, ZTE has become the newest member of the notch clan. The smartphone comes with a 6.21-inch FullHD+ notched display with a resolution of 1080×2248 and a pixel density of around 402ppi. It’s also HDR10 compliant.

It’s worth noting that ZTE Axon 9 Pro is an Android One-certified smartphone and runs Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box. The IP68-rated smartphone also offers enhanced dust and water resistance.

For imaging, the Axon 9 Pro features a dual rear camera system. It’s comprised of a 12-megapixel sensor and a 20-megapixel unit, complete with 4K video recording capabilities. Up front, there’s a 20-megapixel module for selfies and video calls.

ZTE Axon 9 Pro features all modern connectivity options that one would expect in a 2018 flagship, except for the 3.5mm audio port. That said, the smartphone still has the dual front-firing stereo speakers that made its predecessor famous. Backing up the entire package is a 4,000mAh battery, which supports both fast and wireless charging.

Priced at 650 Euros, the Axon 9 Pro will be initially available in Germany, followed by other markets in Europe and Asia. There’s no word on whether the phone will launch in India, or any timeline for that.
