Bugatti recently unveiled Divo, which takes its place in the extravagant lineup of super-fast cars the company has to offer. Interestingly though, that’s not the only Bugatti car to have he been unveiled this month. In what possibly seems to be the most outrageous thing ever built using Lego bricks, the toy brick company has now designed a full-sized replica of an actual Bugatti Chiron.
Yes, the completely Lego-built car carries about 1 million Lego Technic parts, and weighs about 1.5 tonnes. That however, isn’t the most interesting thing about it. This is an actual, driveable car. Lego has equipped it with a self-made motor that generates 5.3 horsepower and gives it a top speed of 20Kmph. The engine is built with 2,304 motors and 4,032 Lego Technic gear wheels.
That’s not it either. Like the original Chiron, the Lego replica also sports an extending spoiler that pops out of the back end. Lego used interconnected triangular segments that come together to make a Lego Technic fabric in order to match the iconic shape of the original car. Things look pretty much the same on the inside as well. Everything from the speedometer, front and back lights, steering wheel and brake pedal are fully functional and built of LEGO Technic elements.
It took Lego over 13,000 work hours for developing and constructing the in-detailed replica of Chiron. Another thing worth noting is that all the parts were put together by hand and no glue was used in assembly.
Lego even test drove the car at the Ehra Lessien proving ground in Germany, where the original Bugatti Chiron was tested for the first time as well. The company also brought in former race car driver Andy Wallace for the test drive. Following that, the car was unveiled yesterday at the Grand Prix Formula 1 event in Monza, Italy.
