Alleged renders of Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro confirm different layouts for rear camera systems

Apart from the flagship P series, Huawei is also known for its top-of-the-line Mate line-up. Having recently launched the Mate 20 Lite in Poland, the Chinese company is now getting ready to unveil the much-swankier Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro, later this year.

Now, a fresh set of alleged Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro renders have surfaced online, confirming key design aspects of the two smartphones’ rear camera setups. If the renders are to be believed, the upcoming Huawei Mate 20 Pro will have a unique triple-camera setup at the rear, arranged in the form of a 2×2 matrix, with the LED flash module making up the fourth element of the matrix. Below that would be the circular fingerprint sensor.

As far as the Huawei Mate 20 is concerned, the render shows it having three cameras at the back, arranged vertically. While two of the cameras share a common ‘boundary,’ the third is separate. This is the same layout that the P20 Pro has, only flipped. A circular fingerprint sensor lies below the three shooters.

The Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro have been rumored for quite a while now. The flagship smartphones are expected to be powered by Huawei’s top-of-the-line Kirin 980 SoC, which the company is expected to announce at the ongoing IFA 2018 consumer electronics show in Berlin, Germany. The chipset will likely be complemented by 6GB of RAM and (at least) 128GB of internal storage. The two smartphones will most certainly run Android 9.0 Pie out-of-the-box, with Huawei’s brand-new EMUI 9.0 baked on top.
