Remember the controversy last year where Apple slowed down older iPhones to ensure they offer good battery life despite old age? As a response to the controversy, the company rolled out a new iOS update to give users an option to either choose slower processor speed for better battery life or performance with a decreasing battery backup. After rolling out the update, the company told US senators that this measure was not necessary for its latest devices because of improved technology and other “hardware updates”.
However, it does not look like that newer Apple Phones will not require this feature. This is because the company just rolled out the feature that is also known as “performance management feature” to iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus with the latest iOS 12.1 update. This contradicts Apple’s statement. However, according to The Verge, the company has “always maintained that all of its products” come with a “fundamental performance management” for the protection of its devices.
According to its support page, Apple claims that improved hardware and software ensure that the performance management system is “more precise” with a possible “less noticeable” impact of performance for iPhone 8 or newer devices.

The report also noted that Apple is currently involved in an antitrust case with a $5.7 million fine in Italy because of the same controversy. As previously noted, the intent of the company was noble, but the way Apple chose to execute it was all shades of wrong.
The entire problem here is that Apple was not upfront about what it was doing. The company only admitted this after people started investigating the impact on the performance of their older iOS-powered devices after each new update.
