BSNL’s broadband plan offers 45GB data, unlimited free calls, and cashback for Rs 299 per month

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has surely been on a roll over the past few months. Owing to fierce competition from private players like Reliance Jio, the state-run telecom operator has just announced a new plan for Rs 299. This new plan is only available for new customers who are switching to the operator and does not apply to current BSNL users. As part of the plan, the company is offering 8Mbps speeds and 45GB data with a fair usage policy for 30 days. This means that users will get 1.5GB of data every day and according to the FUP, the company will reduce the internet speed to up to 1Mbps after the user crosses the 1.5GB daily limit. Considering that the FUP here is 1Mbps, it is likely that the plan is for broadband users but the company has not confirmed it anywhere.

In addition to the mobile data benefits, the company is also offering unlimited free calling on BSNL network. However, this facility is only available for local and STD calls with 24 hours of call talk time. Digging in the details of the plan, the company also announced that it is only offering Rs 300 worth of free calls if the plan subscribers make a call to other cellular networks. Though, most likely to compensate with this limitation and the free 24 hours worth of call talk time, BSNL also added that it will offer free voice calls between 10:30 PM to 6 AM on all weekdays and all Sundays of the month to any network.

Watch: Realme U1 First Look

The company is also offering a discount on this offer with Rs 50 cash back per month. The company revealed this new offer on its official Twitter handle and there are no additional details about the offer at the time of writing. We will update when the company issues an update or listing the plan on their website. Though, taking a closer look at the discount that the company is offering, the cashback will be provided for a period of 180 days or 3 months after the activation.

This comes right after reports came out stating that BSNL is soon planning to offer Aadhaar enrollment and updating facility at 3,000 of its customer service centers across the country. Enabling this facility will cost about Rs 90 crore.

Apple iPhones no longer at risk of being banned in India; TRAI’s DND app approved for iOS

Back in July this year, Apple got itself in a bit of a trouble with Telecom Regulatory of India (TRAI), the country’s apex government body for regulating and overseeing telecom services. The bone of contention in this case was TRAI’s ‘Do Not Disturb’ app, which Apple refused to allow on its App Store, citing concerns regarding privacy of user data.

While it was reported a few months back that Apple was developing a DND app of its own in compliance with TRAI’s regulations, that didn’t happen either. Ultimately, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India threatened to ban iPhones from Indian cellular networks if Apple didn’t come to an agreement over the issue. Thankfully, the long-drawn tussle seems to be finally over.

According to VentureBeat, Apple has finally approved TRAI’s ‘Do Not Disturb’ app, and listed it on its App Store. This was reportedly also confirmed by an Apple spokesperson in India.

To verify the claim, we checked on our end and we can confirm that indeed, the app is available on iOS App Store. Called ‘TRAI DND – Do Not Disturb’, the app’s listing shows it to be compatible with all Apple devices running iOS 12.1 and above. A little over 9.1MB in size, the app (as per the listing details), allows users to register their cellular numbers in the country’s ‘Do Not Disturb’ database, and even report spam SMS/calls after the registration has been done.

Watch: Apple iPhone XS, XS Max Hands On

While both Apple and Indian government can now rest easy, the news should come as a big respite for the millions of iPhone users in the country, who have been under the risk of being left with ‘non-functional’ smartphones for months now.

Massive data breach at Marriott’s Starwood hotels, information of over 500 million guests compromised

Bethesda(US), Nov 30 (AP) The information of as many as 500 million guests at Starwood hotels has been compromised and Marriott said that it’s discovered that unauthorised access within its Starwood network has been taking place since 2014.

The company said Friday that credit card numbers and expiration dates of some guests may have been taken.

For as many as two-thirds of those affected data exposed could include mailing address, phone number, email address, passport number, Starwood Preferred Guest account information, date of birth, gender, arrival and departure information, reservation date and communication preferences.

For some guests, the information was limited to name and sometimes other data such as mailing address, email address or other information.

“We fell short of what our guests deserve and what we expect of ourselves,” CE0 Arne Sorenson said in a prepared statement.

“We are doing everything we can to support our guests, and using lessons learned to be better moving forward.” Email notifications to those who may have been affected will begin rolling out Friday.

While the breach affected “approximately 500 million guests” who made a reservation at a Starwood hotel, some of those records could belong to people who had multiple stays.

When the two companies announced their merger in November 2015, Marriott had 54 million members of its loyalty program and Starwood had 21 million. Many travelers were members in both programs.

Asked for more details on the 500 million number, Marriott spokesman Jeff Flaherty Friday morning said the company has not finished identifying duplicate information in the database.

Marriott said that there was a breach of its database in September, which had guest information related to reservations at Starwood properties on or before Sept. 10.

An internal security tool signalled a potential breach on Sept. 8, but the company was unable to decrypt the information that would define what data had potentially been exposed.

Starwood operates hotels under the names W Hotels, St. Regis, Sheraton Hotels & Resorts, Westin Hotels & Resorts, Element Hotels, Aloft Hotels, The Luxury Collection, Tribute Portfolio, Le M ridien Hotels & Resorts, Four Points by Sheraton and Design Hotels.

Starwood branded timeshare properties are also included.

Marriott has had a rocky process of merging its computer system with Starwood computers. Members of both loyalty programs have complained about missing points, glitches with stays crediting to their accounts and problems with free nights earned from credit cards not appearing.

Sorenson said that Marriott is still trying to phase out Starwood systems.

Marriott has set up a website and call center for anyone who thinks that they are at risk.

Shares of Marriott tumbled 6 percent before the opening bell. (AP) SMJ SMJ

Ultimate guide to winning a PUBG match

PUBG or PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is one of the world’s most popular battle royale games right now. It is available on platforms like PC, Xbox One, Android, and iOS. PUBG has been on a high ever since it launched, and even though its popularity has waned a bit, it pickup up again with the release of PUBG Mobile.

PUBG involves 100 players in a match who drop in one of the three maps – Erangel, Miramar or Sanhok. The objective of the match is to be the last man or team standing. PUBG is played in either solo, duo or squads of three or players. Now, PUBG involves a lot of mechanics in terms of gunfights, vehicles, movement and spotting people. And to make winning easier, here’s a  comprehensive list and ranking guide to help you understand the maps, weapons, vehicles, and the overall game better.

PUBG Maps

Erangel

PUBG was first launched with the Erangel map, which was the only map for almost a year before a new one was introduced. Erangel is still the official map for the tournaments even though it’s been a while since the release of Miramar. Erangel is a grassland map, that has woods, urban areas and sea all around. It has been modeled after an abandoned Russian Military island surrounded by the Black Sea, and is ideal for medium to long-range combat. Here are five tips to help you win on PUBG‘s Erangel Map.

Miramar

Miramar is the second map to hit the PUBG servers, which is a Central or South America-based map, Miramar. Miramar is a city centric map that is set on desert terrain and rural areas which is available on PUBG PC, Xbox and PUBG Mobile. This map is 8×8 km in size which is the same as the Erangel map. Here are five tips to help you win on PUBG‘s Erangel Map.

Sanhok

The Sanhok map is a lush Asian rainforest map based on tropical islands in Thailand and the Philippines. This is essentially a close-quarters combat map that means that there are very few places to snipe enemies from a long distance. Erangel and Miramar measure 8×8 kms while Sanhok is half the size at 4×4 kms. Even the amount of guns found on Sanhok is much more than Erangel and Miramar. This means quicker matches with deadlier battles. Here are five tips to win on the Sanhok map.

PUBG Weapons

Assault Rifles

Assault rifles are the bread and butter of the game as these are the most stable guns with a decent range, distance, damage and rate of fire. Assault rifles in PUBG come in many different forms which are all based on real world guns from AKM to M416. Assault rifles are usually rifles that use 5.56mm or 7.62mm ammo. These can be outfitted with a whole selection of attachments. Here is a comprehensive ranked list of all the Assault Rifles in PUBG.

DMRs and Sniper Rifles

DMRs (Designated Marksman Rifles) and Sniper rifles in PUBG are the long-range options. Sniper rifles are all bolt action while DMR are mostly semi-auto. These weapons have long range, high damage, but very low rate of fire which makes them better options for long distance engagement. From AWM to Mini14, there are a lot of these to choose from. Here is a comprehensive ranked list of all the DMRs and Sniper Rifles in PUBG.

Pistols and SMGs

Pistols and Submachine Guns are the early game heroes of PUBG. These have low damage, low range, pistols have low rate of fire while the SMGs have high rate of fire. Few people will choose an SMG over an Assault Rifle for late game, but there are some who do. Pistols and SMGs come with options to mod that include magazine mods, grips, muzzle mods and scopes and sights. Here is a comprehensive ranked list of all the Pistols and SMGs in PUBG.

WATCH: PUBG Beryl M762: All you need to know

Shotguns

Shotguns, like pistols, and SMGs are also essentially early game weapons and there are only four of them in the game. Shotguns have high damage, low rate of fire and low range which means that these are again not viable options for late game. Shotguns come with options to mod that include magazine mods, bullet loops, muzzle mods and scopes and sights. Here is a comprehensive ranked list of all the Shotguns in PUBG.

Airtel offers Rs 400 cashback on recharge of Rs 399; here’s how to get it

It’s been over two years since Reliance Jio entered the Indian telecom sector, but the tariff war that the arrival of the Mukesh Ambani-led telco kicked off is showing no signs of ending anytime soon. If anything, the battle is getting fiercer, with telecom operators coming up with new offers every day to entice customers. The latest to do so, is Airtel.

Among the top players in the country’s hotly-contested telecom space, Airtel is now offering a cashback of Rs 400 to prepaid customers who recharge with its Rs 399 plan. Essentially, this should mean you’re getting a cashback of a full 100 percent. Well, not really.

That’s because there’s a catch. And as always, you need to read the fine print to know everything. The total cashback of Rs 400 is available in the form of eight vouchers of Rs 50 each. While that doesn’t sound too bad, you can only redeem one voucher at a time once you recharge with Rs 399.

This means that every time you recharge with the telco’s Rs 399 monthly plan, a cashback voucher of Rs 50 is automatically applied before the payment, bringing the total payment of the plan to Rs 349. Subsequently, you can do the same thing (recharging with Rs 399 plan and getting the Rs 50 voucher) seven more times, thus getting the total cashback of Rs 400.

We were able to confirm the plan on our end. If you see the above screenshots, you’ll see the net discounted payment of Rs 349 (after the cashback of Rs 50). Also, it’s worth mentioning that the offer is available till March 31, 2020.

PUBG vs Fortnite: Here are the key differences

Fortnite and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds have been competing since last year to see which can be a better battle royale game. Needless to say, both games have had their moments. Initially there were lawsuits filed by PUBG developers who accused that Fortnite had stolen ideas from PUBG. Though these claims were mostly quashed by the court, many players and fans still believe that Fortnite may have taken some inspiration from PUBG.

But if we can move past the similarities of the two games, then we will be able to look at how the two games are different from each other. There are few points of contention in this aspect, and here’s a look at those. Many of these differences arise out of the fact that Fortnite on all the platforms has been developed by Epic Games itself, while PUBG has a different developers on all the platforms – Bluehole on PC, Microsoft on Xbox One, and Tencent Games on smartphones.

Gameplay

PUBG and Fortnite have some very basic differences when it comes to the gameplay. PUBG is a game that strives to keep things as real as possible, and this includes gun mechanics, movements, the map, and graphics itself. Fortnite, on the other hand, took a more cartoonish approach towards things with its graphics, animation as well as gun mechanics.

Fornite is only available to play in third person perspective, while PUBG can be played in third person and first person perspective. Fortnite has whole mechanic involving building and destroying buildings which is absent from PUBGFortnite also comes with emotes which are full dance routines with music, albeit PUBG did try to take an inspiration from this.

Platform of availability

PUBG started out as an exclusive on PC, while Fortnite began its journey from PC, PS4 as well as the Xbox One. PUBG soon gained Xbox One, iOS and Android as supported platforms. Compared to that Fortnite is now available iOS, Nintendo Switch and finally Android. On top of this Fortnite can’t be downloaded from the Google Play Store directly for Android, and needs a special installer for the game.

Crossplay

PUBG and Fortnite both are present on multiple platforms, and hence players want to be able to play with players and friends on other platforms as well. But as it turns out PUBG does not support cross-play on any of its platforms and players will only be able to play with other players from the same platform. Fortnite, on the other hand, does allow players to play with other players from other platforms.

Uniform content across platforms

On of the things that has worked in Fortnite’s favor is that fact that the content that has been available in the game is available across the game on all the platforms. But PUBG, since it has different developers for all the versions of the game, the content is not released at the same time for all the versions. For example, the Sanhok map was first introduced on PC, followed by Xbox, and then mobile.

Number of maps

Fortnite just has one map that players can play upon, but it has been doing a lot of new things on that one map to keep things fresh. On the other hand PUBG has three different maps that offer varied experiences. PUBG has been making these maps based on real-life locations.

WATCH: PUBG Beryl M762: All you need to know

To sum it up, both the games have their merits and demerits, and even those are very subjective since some may appeal to one person and not the other. Both are amazing games in their own right, and deserve the popularity it has carved out for themselves.

Huawei confirms its very own Android alternative is under development: Report

Perhaps one of the most well-known Chinese technology companies in the world, Huawei is a name that needs no introduction. The world’s number one telecommunication equipment manufacturer, Huawei also happens to be the globe’s second-largest smartphone maker. Add to that a diverse product portfolio and extensive R&D spending, and you’ve got a company that’s a ‘technological giant’ in every sense of the phrase.

Now, there’s no denying the fact that Huawei makes great smartphones. The company’s newest Mate 20 Pro flagship, which recently launched in India, is one of the best top-tier smartphones you can buy right now. But, like all other OEMs out there, Huawei has to rely on Google when it comes to software running on its smartphone. That’s because like all other OEMs out there, Huawei smartphones run Android. Well, that could change very soon.

If a new report fromGizmochina is to be believed, Huawei is actively developing its very own mobile operating system, which will eventually take the place of Android on all Huawei (and presumably Honor) smartphones.

The report cites Bruce Lee, Vice President of Huawei’s Mobile Products, who seemingly confirmed via a Weibo post that Huawei’s very own mobile OS is “under development”.

Watch: Huawei Mate 20 Pro First Look

As exciting as the news of Huawei’s Android (and iOS) alternative is, we may not see the OS until a few years. Developing a new mobile operating system is no small task, especially when today’s smartphone OS space is a duopoly of Apple and Google. Nonetheless, it’ll be interesting to see what features Huawei’s own mobile OS brings, whenever it comes out.

HMD Global schedules India launch event for December 10, may unveil Nokia 8.1

Recently, HMD Global sent out media invitations regarding an upcoming product launch. It was speculated that at the event, which was to be held on December 6, we would see the long-rumored Nokia 7.1 finally coming to the Indian shores. However, we now know that’s definitely not the case, since Nokia 7.1 launched in India just hours ago.

HMD Global though has now pushed its December 6 event, rescheduling it to December 10. While that’s definitely interesting, what about the star of the show? Well, if we had to hazard a guess, we’d say that HMD Global’s event next month could be about Nokia 8.1.

Why do we say so? Well, the Finnish company is also holding a global product launch on December 5 in Dubai, where as many as three new smartphones are expected to be launched. A recent report had claimed that one of these smartphones could be Nokia 8.1 (with the other two being Nokia 2.1 Plus and the mythical Nokia 9, which has long-been rumored to boast a penta-lens camera system). Nokia 8.1 was expected to be unveiled in India on November 28, but since that clearly didn’t happen, the smartphone could finally launch on December 10.

Talking about the device, Nokia 8.1 is expected to be a rebranded version of Nokia X7, which has already been available in China for quite some time now. It’s powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 710 SoC, paired with 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage. The smartphone features a 6.18-inch FullHD+ display, complete with a notch. An Android One-certified device, the Nokia X7 runs Android Pie out-of-the-box.

Reliance Jio continues to grow its userbase in the country and put incumbent players in a vulnerable position. The Nokia 7.1 was showcased not so long ago, but took a couple of months to be launched in India. Priced at Rs 19,999, the new phone is largely similar to the Nokia 6.1 Plus, but does have a couple of interesting features and additions that help set it apart. Apart from that, the phone will also be available to buy at leading offline retailers across the country, once it goes on sale on December 7.

However, the price tag of the Nokia 7.1 puts it in direct competition with the Honor Play and Xiaomi Poco F1, both of which have some significant advantages on paper. How do the three devices compare? Find out below.

Design and Display

The key similarity when it comes to display is that all three devices have notched screens. However, the screen sizes are different in all cases; the Nokia 7.1 has the smallest screen here at 5.84 inches, while the Honor Play and Xiaomi Poco F1 have 6.3-inch and 6.18-inch screens respectively. All three phones have full-HD+ resolution IPS LCD screens, with wider-than-usual aspect ratios.

The small screen size has a significant advantage in making the Nokia 7.1 the most compact and easy-to-handle phone of the three. Furthermore, the Nokia 7.1 has what Nokia calls the ‘PureDisplay’, which is HDR10-compatible for viewing high dynamic range content. Watching movies and TV shows in the compatible format will be a significantly better experience on the Nokia 7.1.

In terms of design and build, all three phones take a different approach. The Nokia 7.1 has the most premium looking build, with a metal frame and glass back. The Honor Play sports a metal unibody build, while the Xiaomi Poco F1 has a plastic build and feels the least premium of the three. However, in terms of durability, the Xiaomi and Honor options score over the Nokia 7.1.

Specifications

All three phones come with widely different specifications. The Nokia 7.1 is the firm laggard in this department, featuring a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. In comparison, the Honor Play comes with a similar 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage on the similarly priced variant, but sports the HiSilicon Kirin 970 SoC. The Xiaomi Poco F1 comes with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, but has the best chipset on offer, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845.

The Nokia 7.1 also has the smallest battery, at 3,060mAh, compared to 3,750mAh on the Honor and 4,000mAh on the Xiaomi. All three phones come with fast charging at 18W, and charging speeds will be similar. All three phones also use USB Type-C connectivity. The Honor Play has an advantage in the form of GPU Turbo which is said to offer a performance boost with certain games, while face unlock on the Xiaomi Poco F1 is the best and works well even in the dark. The Nokia 7.1 sports the best software package, thanks to Android One certification. The phone has already received an update for Android 9 Pie, while the Honor and Xiaomi options are still on Android Oreo.

Camera

All three smartphones come with a dual-camera setup at the rear and a single-camera module at the front. The Nokia 7.1 and Xiaomi Poco F1 sport 12-megapixel + 5 megapixel setups, while the Honor Play uses a 16-megapixel + 2-megapixel setup at the back. At the front, the Nokia 7.1 gets an 8-megapixel camera, the Xiaomi Poco F1 has a 20-megapixel shooter and the Honor Play sports a 16-megapixel camera.

All three phones offer 4K video recording, with the chipset on the Poco F1 further enabling slow-motion video at up to 240fps. All the secondary sensors on the three phones are used for depth effects to enable portrait mode photography.

Price and Availability

At just under Rs 20,000, the Honor Play and Nokia 7.1 are identically priced. The Xiaomi Poco F1 is just a little more expensive at Rs 20,999. The Honor Play and Xiaomi Poco F1 have higher variants as well which come with superior specifications, such as more RAM or storage. On the whole, the Xiaomi Poco F1 or Honor Play might seem like better value propositions to the Nokia 7.1.

WATCH: Xiaomi Poco F1 Armored Edition First Look

However, the Nokia 7.1 does come with the benefit of wider offline availability and the reputation that goes into the Nokia brand name, which to some extent justifies the pricing of the phone. The Xiaomi Poco F1 is otherwise available to buy on Flipkart, while the Honor Play can be purchased on Amazon India.

PhonePe now lets you directly book train tickets via IRCTC

For those who regularly travel by train, booking tickets just got a lot simpler. PhonePe, the digital payments subsidiary of e-commerce company Flipkart, has partnered with Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to introduce a micro-app on its platform.

Travelers can now book tickets (and pay for) Indian Railways’ tickets directly using PhonePe app. This comes nearly three months after PhonePe announced its collaboration with IRCTC to enabled digital payments on the latter’s ‘Rail Connect’ Android app, reported ETtech. It’s worth mentioning that the payments platform already has micro-apps for services like redBus, Faasos, and Myntra.

PhonePe offers many payment modes to pay for the booked tickets, including credit/debit cards, UPI, and via PhonePe wallet. According to Gadgets Now, users will get an additional cashback of Rs 50 on the first train ticket booked via the app. The offer itself is valid till December 4, and PhonePe has clarified that it won’t be charging any additional fees for tickets booked using its micro-app/platform.

“We are very excited with this addition to our in-app portfolio. While PhonePe users could already pay for their bookings on the IRCTC platform using PhonePe, they can now directly book tickets from the PhonePe app also. We are continuously evolving and innovating towards building a hassle-free ecosystem for our 100 million users and the association with IRCTC is another step in that direction. Our aim is to create a unified login and payments experience across all important consumer use cases in the space of travel,” Rituraj Rautela, Head of In-app platform, PhonePe, was quoted as saying in a Gadgets Now report.

Microsoft Office icons redesign could be start of a design era

As workplaces around the world turn modern, Microsoft is changing its platforms to reflect that message as well. The Redmond-based tech giant has announced redesign for Office icons as part of a broader focus on design changes coming to various Office apps. The icons of Office applications have been redesigned for the first time in five years.

Microsoft says these icons have been redesigned to be more simple and look modern across devices and platforms. Microsoft Office, which was available only on Windows and Mac initially is now also available on mobile platforms such as Android and iOS as well. These redesigned icons are supposed to reflect how Office has changed in the recent years with emphasis on new AI features and support for collaborative interface.

With the new design, Microsoft is making the most important change where the Office apps are no longer represented by a letter. Despite that, these new icons look familiar and are easy to identify. This is a significant moment from Microsoft which now sells Windows and Office together as part of Microsoft 365 and is pushing more businesses to adopt its applications and cloud services.

“Our design solution was to de-couple the letter and the symbol from the icons, essentially creating two panels (one for the letter and one for the symbol) that we can pair or separate. This allows us to maintain familiarity while still emphasizing simplicity when inside the app,” Jon Friedman, Head of Office design at Microsoft, explains in a Medium post.

The document outlines in older icons depicting lines of text in Word and individual cells in Excel has been dropped in favor of a much simpler design. The OneDrive and Skype icons have a unique appearance and are instantly recognizable. The design change can be seen as a first major step for Microsoft to bring the Fluent Design Language beyond Windows 10.

The Outlook Mobile app is also said to getting a major design overhaul soon and gain support for shared mailbox and new gestures. The icons and typography on Windows is also being redesigned and is currently being tested in Windows Insider programs.

Meizu 16 India launch teased, will compete with OnePlus 6T

Meizu is planning a comeback into the Indian smartphone market and BGR India recently reported that the company could launch two new budget devices including the Meizu 16th smartphone as part of its new strategy. Now, the Chinese smartphone maker has gone ahead to post teaser for the launch of the Meizu 16th smartphone on its Indian Twitter account.

The company is planning to compete with the likes of Xiaomi, Honor, Oppo, Vivo and Realme by launching two budget-centric devices. The Meizu 16th smartphone, on the other hand, could be its rival to the OnePlus 6T in the premium mid-range segment. We earlier reported that Meizu’s new devices will launch in India as early as next month and some reports indicate it could in the first week itself.

Meizu is not shying away from revealing that the smartphone launching in India is the Meizu 16th, which was launched in China as the company celebrated its 16th anniversary in the hardware business. All of its teasers posted on Twitter only confirm that the device launching in India is indeed the Meizu 16th anniversary edition.

There is not much information on the rumored budget phones that Meizu plans to bring to India. Meizu’s re-entry adds a lot of interest since the brand had a strong familiarity with the local audience. It often competed with Xiaomi and Samsung, the market leaders in the Indian smartphone market.

Meizu 16: Specifications and Expected Price

Meizu 16 was launched in August and it features a 6-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2160 1080 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by Snapdragon 845 chipset coupled with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB storage. There is also a low-end model with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, which could be priced lower to compete with Poco F1.

Netflix cancels Marvel’s ‘Daredevil’ after just three seasons but it may come back

Video streaming platform Netflix has just announced that it is canceling Marvel’s Daredevil about a month after releasing the third season of the show. This is the third Marvel show that Netflix has canceled after Iron Fist and Luke Cage. This leaves the streaming platform with just two remaining Marvel shows that include Jessica Jones and The Punisher. According to the cancellation, Netflix issued a statement stating, “Marvel’s Daredevil will not return for a fourth season on Netflix.” The platform went on to thank the fans, partners at Marvel, showrunner Erik Oleson, writers. the crew and the cast of the show for its success.

The streaming company initially launched the first season of Daredevil back in 2015 and later launched the second and third season in 2016 and 2018 respectively. Daredevil was the first Marvel show on Netflix that later resulted in the launch of other Marvel TV shows including Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, The Punisher and Defenders. English actor Charlie Cox was the lead of the show playing as Matt Murdock and its alter-ego Daredevil while Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll played the characters of Franklin “Foggy” Nelson, and Karen Page respectively.

The TV universe of Marvel shows tries to be the dark, gritty and more real side of Marvel that plugs the gap in the stories around the Marvel movies. These TV shows showcase, what appears to be the day-to-day lives in the world where the Avengers exist. The cancellation was initially reported by Deadline along with official confirmation from Netflix. Talking more about Daredevil’s cancellation, it is quite possible that Daredevil may make a comeback to the nearest screen where you usually video stream your content as it is possible for Disney to pick up the show.

The reason we are saying this is because it is likely that Disney, the owner of Marvel may pick up the show for its upcoming streaming service ‘Disney+’. According to the report, Netflix also added, “While the series on Netflix has ended, the three existing seasons will remain on the service for years to come, while the Daredevil character will live on in future projects for Marvel”. This means any possible appearance of the Daredevil in Jessica Jones or The Punisher.

However, with the demise of Marvel TV universe on Netflix, Disney has been working on creating its own Marvel TV universe with the help of new TV shows including Loki, and Scarlett Witch.

Fortnite’s ‘Account Merging’ feature has been delayed to next year

Epic Games is the first game developer to have traversed the boundaries of all the platforms, and merge them together using its very own battle royale game Fortnite. It first came out as an early access game for Microsoft Windows, macOS, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in September 2017. This was followed by its release on mobile platforms beginning with iOS, followed by Nintendo Switch, and finally Android in 2018.

Epic Games came up with a solution for people who had multiple accounts over different platforms to merge them so that all the stats and items could be transferred to one main account. This was categorized by the company as ‘Account Merging’ and here’s what it wrote in the blog announcing the same, “In November, we’re going to release an “account merging” system so you can combine multiple console-linked accounts to transfer Battle Royale cosmetic item purchases, lifetime wins, V-Bucks, and Save the World campaign access.”

But now, the company tweeted out that this is being pushed to early next year, and the blog explains that this is due to some technical issues with the feature. “Due to some ongoing technical concerns, we will be delaying the Account Merge feature until early next year. We want to make sure that this process is thoroughly tested and working properly before releasing it to those of you currently looking to transfer purchases from other accounts to your primary account. We’ll be sure to update you as we get closer to the release of the feature, which will include a web page on launch to help guide you through the flow!”

ISRO’s PSLV-C43 successfully places into orbit HysIS along with 30 satellites

India on Thursday put into orbit its own earth observation satellite with a sharp eye, the Hyper Spectral Imaging Satellite (HysIS), and 30 other foreign satellites in text-book style.

In the process, India has crossed the milestone of lifting and putting into orbit over 250 foreign satellites. India has till date has put into orbit 269 foreign satellites.

The notable aspect of the rocket mission is the placing of the satellites in two different orbits — one at a higher altitude and the others in a lower one.

After the successful launch, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman K. Sivan said: “Once again Indian space scientists showed their excellence. The PSLV injected the HysIS first and later the 30 foreign customers satellites.

The HysIS is a state-of-the-art satellite. The heart of the satellite, a critical chip called the optical imaging detector array chip was designed by ISRO’s Satellite Applications Centre (SAC) and fabricated by Semi-Conductor Laboratory of ISRO.

It can read upto 1000 x 66 pixels.

Queried about the HysIS’ application for strategic/defence purposes Sivan said: “Our duty is to build the satellite to identify the object clearly. The actual use of the data is left for the users.”

The primary goal of HysIS is to study the earth’s surface in visible, near infrared and shortwave infrared regions of the electromagnetic spectrum, he said.

Hyperspectral imaging is an imaging spectroscopy which combines the power of digital imaging and spectroscopy.

This imaging technology enables to distinguish objects on the earth by reading the spectrum for each pixel of an item seen from the space.

On the manned space mission planned by ISRO, Sivan said the first unmanned mission — a prelude to the manned one — will happen in December 2020.

There will be another mission later again ahead of the human space mission by 2022.

When asked about the training to be provided to the Indian astronauts Sivan said the plan is to develop most of the facilities within the country and for some training they may go overseas.

Sivan also said that the next launch will be of communication satellite GSAT-11 from French Guiana on December 5, which will followed by GSAT-7A by the Indian rocket Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) from here.

According to him, in 2019 ISRO will be launching a micro-satellite, Chandrayaan-2 (moon mission), RISAT and Cartosat satellites.

Meanwhile on Thursday at about 9.58 a.m., the four staged/engine PSLV-CA rocket, standing 44.4 metres tall and weighing about 230 tonne, blasted off from the first launch pad.

With the fierce orange flame at its tail, the rocket slowly gained speed and went up enthralling the people at the rocket port while the engine roared like a rolling thunder adding to the thrill.

More thrilling aspect came in when rocket’s fourth stage/engine was cut/switched off in just over 16 minutes after the lift off.

A minute later, the Indian satellite HysIS with a mission life of five years was placed in 636 km polar sun synchronous orbit.

Following that the rocket was brought to a lower altitude of 503 km.

Post HysIS ejection, the rocket’s fourth stage was restarted at 59.65 minutes after the lift off.

The co-passengers of HysIS include one micro and 29 nano satellites from eight different countries.

Later, the rocket was switched off and on, twice before the final foreign passenger was put into orbit about 112.79 minutes after the rocket’s lift off.

All the foreign satellites were placed in a 504 km orbit, just as the overseas customers wanted their satellites to be placed, Sivan said.

While 23 satellites are from the US, the rest are from Australia, Canada, Columbia, Finland, Malaysia, the Netherlands and Spain.

These satellites have been commercially contracted for launch through Antrix Corporation Limited, the commercial arm of ISRO.

Perhaps one of the biggest strengths of Android is the huge app ecosystem that Google’s mobile operating system has. No matter what kind of app you want, there are dozens of options to choose from.

When it comes to keyboard apps, Google’s Gboard is the default choice of most users. However, there are quite a few alternatives as well, and one of them is SwiftKey. Owned and developed by Microsoft, the keyboard app comes with many features like swipe typing and GIF integration. And with the newest update, it’s gotten even better.

SwiftKey has added a new feature to its Android keyboard app, which allows users to quickly and easily share anything from the web. It works in tandem with the integrated web search functionality, which SwiftKey already has.

Using the new search functionality, users can search for anything on the web and share the results with other users, directly from SwiftKey. Not just that, the results can be easily screenshotted and cropped before being shared. To get started, follow the steps below:

– Open the toolbar by tapping on the ‘+’ icon on the top left corner of the keyboard, and select the search icon.

– When you type the search string, SwiftKey will return instant rich search results (from Bing). In case you type a URL as the search string, you’ll be directed to the target webpage.

– Crop the results, if needed. Once done, hit the Send button.
